Pillar I: Bionetwork (Ecosystem Resilience and Green Economic) Development and climate change mitigation (MGD 1, SDGs 5, 7, 10, 13, 14, 15 and 17):

Ethiopia is a country whose major economic system is based on rain fed agriculture. Within our national context, it is quite indispensible to consider the following quotation:

Depletion of natural resources can result in water shortages; create great pressure on other local resources like energy, food, etc., that already might be in short supply or destroy beautiful scenic landscapes.… The more physical impacts are degradation and loss of wildlife habitats and of scenery, and disturbance and erosion of the local ecosystem caused by clearing forested land and construction of tourism facilities and infrastructure…. (Muhanna, 2006:14)

To the understanding of our organization nothing will be health unless the issues of ecosystem resilience and climate change mitigation are practically settled. Therefore, the work of ecosystem resilience and climate change mitigation have multiple and interrelated implications in view of realizing the desired sustainable development goals.
